Remember Jesus - Sacrament Symbols Puzzle
4 Visuals (Color and Black and white) with instructions.
3 Nephi 18:7, 11 (blessing sacrament bread and water)
AGES 8-11
OBJECTIVE: Create this two-sided sacrament reminder puzzle to help children always remember Jesus Christ and strive to have His Spirit with them. DETAILS below*
ACTIVITY: Tell children about the two puzzle sides and ask:
• “What does the sacrament bread help us remember?” (3 Nephi 18:7.)
• “What does the sacrament water help us remember?” (3 Nephi 18:11.)
*YOUTH GOAL ACTIVITY. REMEMBER JESUS: Sacrament Symbols puzzle. Youth can ponder this sacrament prayer found in 3 Nephi 18 to partake of the: (verse 7) BREAD in remembrance of the Savior’s body as a testimony they will always remember Him. (verse 11) WATER with repentance and baptism, remembering the Savior’s blood shed for them. With the promise to always remember Him, they will have His Spirit to be with them.
The 3 Nephi 18:7 puzzle is the sacrament prayer on the bread, representing Jesus’ body, and the 3 Nephi 18:11 puzzle is the sacrament prayer on the water, representing the blood Jesus shed for us.
Tell about Jesus bringing the sacrament to the Nephites (see Lesson Ideas* below).

SCRIPTURES ON THE PUZZLE READ:
SACRAMENT BREAD:
3 Nephi 18:7 “And this shall ye do in remembrance of my body, which I have shown unto you. And it shall be a testimony unto the Father that ye do always remember me. And if ye do always remember me ye shall have my Spirit to be with you.”
SACRAMENT WATER:
3 Nephi 18:11 “And this shall ye always do to those who repent and are baptized in my name; and ye shall do it in remembrance of my blood, which I have shed for you, that ye may witness unto the Father that ye do always remember me. And if ye do always remember me ye shall have my Spirit to be with you.”
Then have children put the individual puzzles together, first one side (bread as they receive that first when partaking of the sacrament), then the other (water), and memorize the prayers.
TO MAKE Print on cardstock in color or have children color the puzzle. Cut out the two-sided puzzle, cutting out only the outside edge at first. Then fold the puzzle in half on the dividing line back to back. Glue the puzzle together (spreading glue over the entire piece, not just the edges). Trim edges. Cut the puzzle out (as shown on the one side). Store puzzle pieces in an envelope or a plastic bag.
THOUGHT TREAT Unleavened Bread. Bring pita or flatbread and explain that unleavened bread was the bread Jesus gave his disciples in New Testament times and to the Nephites. Unleavened bread is a flatbread, unlike the raised yeast bread we have today.
SCRIPTURE CHALLENGE CARD: Help children search and ponder this scripture card by filling in the blanks. Print this 5 x 7 card from the pdf included with the above activity. You can punch the two holes on the left and tie a ribbon to attach cards or use two metal rings to connect cards.
3 Nephi 18:14, 16 “Therefore blessed are ye if ye shall keep my commandments, which the Father hath commanded me that I should give unto you . . . Behold I am the light; I have set an example for you.”
