Walk in God’s light.
Walk in God’s light
You make better choices when you can see things clearly. That’s why light is so important; light makes it easier to see the right path. Heavenly Father has given you access to a heavenly source of light—the gift of the Holy Ghost—to help you see clearly what is good and bad, right and wrong.
Eternal Truths
You can have the Holy Ghost as a constant companion. When you were confirmed a member of the Church, you were invited to “receive the Holy Ghost.” The opportunity to have the Spirit as your constant companion is one of God’s greatest gifts to you.
Making good choices improves your ability to feel the Spirit. There are many good and wholesome things in this world. Just as your body is affected by what you eat and drink, your mind and spirit are profoundly affected by what you read, watch, and listen to.
BAPTISMAL COVENANTS & THE HOLY GHOST ColorQuote. Objective: Help youth memorize 1 Corinthians 3:16-17: “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.” SEE MORE . . .
Personal Challenge. This week, intentionally remove one thing from your life that does not honor God and replace it with something that strengthens your relationship with Him. EXAMPLES: choices, habits, thoughts, and actions, influences, relationsips, entertainment, attitudes toward self and others.
Invitations
Make time for the Lord every day. Learn of Him. Always remember Him. Pray to your Heavenly Father. Study the holy scriptures and the words of living prophets. Then strive to live by what you learn.
Seek that which uplifts, inspires, and invites the Spirit. As you make choices about what to watch, read, listen to, or participate in, think about how it makes you feel. Does it invite good thoughts? Stay away from anything that mocks sacred things or is immoral. Don’t participate in anything that dulls your judgment or sensitivity to the Spirit, such as violence, alcohol, and harmful drugs. Have the courage to turn off a video or game, walk out of a movie or dance, change your music, or turn away from anything that is not consistent with the Spirit.
Use social media to uplift. Social media can be a powerful communication tool. If you use it, focus on light, faith, and truth. Don’t compare your life to what other people seem to be experiencing. Remember that your worth comes from being a child of heavenly parents, not from social media.
Seek wholesome experiences and real, lasting relationships. Be careful that your use of technology and media does not replace spending in-person time with family and friends. Social media and other technology can take a lot of your time without giving much value in return. Take a break from the virtual world and connect with people in real life.

LIGHT OF THE HOLY GHOST mobile.Youth can learn how the Spirit is their light by learning from these scriptures to fill in the blanks on both sides of the mobile. Examples: (one side) Be Worthy of to Receive the Holy Ghost #1 “REPENT of my sins” found in Mosiah 4:10. (flip-side) Blessings of the Holy Ghost #1 in “He shall TEACH you all things” found in John 14:26. Youth can compete to find, then share answers. SEE MORE . . .
Promised Blessings
You can have the Spirit with you always. This promise is part of the covenant you make every time you partake of the sacrament. The Spirit will bear witness to you of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. He will comfort, guide, warn, and sanctify you. He will help you recognize truth and see the good in the world.
REMEMBER JESUS: Sacrament Symbols puzzle. Youth can ponder this sacrament prayer found in 3 Nephi 18 to partake of the: (verse 7) BREAD in remembrance of the Savior’s body as a testimony they will always remember Him. (verse 11) WATER with repentance and baptism, remembering the Savior’s blood shed for them. With the promise to always remember Him, they will have His Spirit to be with them. SEE MORE . . .
STOP AND SMELL THE FLOWERS
(Compare to the Spirit – the Holy Ghost):
1. Create a room full of clutter with a bouquet of FLOWERS in the center of the table. Have dirty dishes on the table. Scatter magazines, papers, and clothes all over the floor. Have a dust cloth, vacuum, a pan of dish soap, and a dishcloth to wash dishes available. Ask youth to enter the room, sit down, and write down their feelings.
2. Ask youth to go out, but have a few stay after and help clean up the room. Leave the bouquet of flowers in the center of the table.
3. Ask youth to come back into the room and write down their impressions. Say, “The bouquet of flowers you see can be compared to the Holy Ghost in our lives. The first time you saw this room, you saw a room full of clutter. You may not have noticed the flowers. But when the room was free of clutter, you might have seen the flowers first. This is how it is with the Holy Ghost. When our minds are free of clutter, we are free to listen to and enjoy Heavenly Father’s spirit.”
4. Make a list of things that clutter their lives that might prevent us from listening to the Spirit (for example, not doing homework, not going to church, not reading the scriptures, not helping around the house, not going to seminary, etc.)
5. Blindfold one of the youth, saying, “Sometimes we blindfold ourselves with things that don’t matter and neglect the things that do matter.” Ask youth what our decisions would be without the influence of the Holy Ghost.

YOUTH GOAL PLANNER. LEARN ABOUT THE HOLY GHOST. Youth can learn from these scriptures and record their impressions: God will give us a “new heart” and a “new spirit” as we keep His commandments. He will show us things to come. He will give us love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance as we live and walk in the Spirit. We can receive this gift (confirmation) at baptism. If we trust, the Spirit can enlighten our minds and bring us joy. SEE MORE . . .
