NURSERY OR SUNBEAM LESSONS*:
OBJECTIVE: The lesson helps children learn that Jesus Christ set a perfect example of kindness and love.
POSTER ACTIVITY
1. Print or copy the activity.
2. Tell children that Jesus set the perfect example of love and kindness. Jesus showed His love by serving and blessing the poor, sick, and distressed. He told His disciples to “love one another, as I have loved you” (John 15:12; see also John 13:34–35; Moroni 7:46–48).
3. Help children memorize the poster: “I love my brothers and sisters! I can be a popcorn brother or sister! I will quickly ‘pop’ up to help, ‘pop’ a smile, or ‘pop’ out my arms for a loving hug.”
• Sitting around a bowl of popcorn (see TREAT below), talk to children about sharing by saying, “What if I popped this bowl of popcorn and decided to eat it all by myself without sharing it with you? Would this be showing love?”
4. Talk about the Home Activity: “Let’s talk about all the ways I can show love and help my brothers and sisters. Let’s learn how to do a group hug and express our love.”
THOUGHT TREAT: Popcorn treats. Share a bowl of popcorn on serving napkins. Talk about sharing. Then have children take turns giving the child next to them a handful of popcorn. Sing “Popcorn” song.
