CHILDREN’S LESSON ACTIVITY. WE LOVE TO HAVE FAMILY PRAYERS! poster or coloring page. Children feel close to their earthly and heavenly families when they pray together. Here they can express their thanks (for the 12 things listed) and more, ask for what they need, and show love for each other. The HOME ACTIVITY encourages parents to talk to children about family prayer and what to pray for and to pray often.

Nursery Lesson 12: CLICK HERE for Lesson 12 – I Can Pray with My Family in the “Behold Your Little Ones” manual.
OBJECTIVE: Tell children that family prayer helps us stay close to each other and to Heavenly Father. The Savior said that if we pray with our families in His name, our family will be blessed (3 Nephi 18:21). Praying together invites the Holy Ghost to guide us, and we can grow closer to Heavenly Father as we pray and receive guidance and protection.
POSTER ACTIVITY – Family Prayer Poster
1. Print or copy the activity poster.
2. Talk about the poster, saying, “We love to have our family prayer! We pray together to express our thanks, to ask for what we need, and to show our love for each other.”
• Talk about things we can pray about (some on handout), asking children what they would say. Objects can be passed to each child so they can show them as they talk (e.g., a picture of a family, food, scriptures, Jesus, meetinghouse, temple, money, or purse/wallet. Say, “Heavenly Father wants us to pray to Him in the name of Jesus Christ. We can thank Him and ask for blessings.”
3. Talk about the Home Activity: “Talk to me about family prayer and ask me what I want to pray about. Then help me say our family prayer often so I can feel close to Heavenly Father and my family.”
THOUGHT TREAT: Family-prayer popsicle. Treat children to a popsicle. Each popsicle represents a person having family prayer. Have children point their popsicle into the circle to show that families get together to pray. Then have a prayer together to thank Heavenly Father and ask for blessings. Ask children to tell things they say in family prayer (e.g., “Bless Grandpa and Grandma”).
SING “My Heavenly Father Loves Me” (Children’s Songbook, 228).
