The Sabbath day is a special day! poster or coloring page

OBJECTIVE: Tell children that the Sabbath day is a day of rest where we remember Heavenly Father and Jesus. It is a commandment from Heavenly Father to keep Sunday—the Sabbath day—holy.

POSTER ACTIVITY – Sabbath Special Day Poster
1. Give each child an activity poster (shown) to color.
2. Talk about the poster, saying, “The Sabbath day is a special day!”
• “I am happy when I go to church on Sunday to learn about Jesus.” Show a picture of Jesus and tell a story about Him. We learn to make the right choices so we can be happy and live with Jesus again someday.
• “I am happy when I spend time with my family on Sunday.” Children can share favorite Sunday family activities (maybe ask parents ahead of time).
• “I am happy when I can rest on Sunday.” Discuss ways to rest on the Sabbath.
3. Talk about the Home Activity: “Praise me when I do the right things on Sunday. Help me to do work on Saturday so I can be ready for Sunday.”

THOUGHT TREAT:  Sabbath smoothie. Blend ice with juice to create a smoothie. Give children a straw to drink it as they talk about smooth (good)—Sabbath day things they can do to make the day go smoothly.
