Families Can Be Together Forever poster or coloring page
OBJECTIVE: Tell children that Heavenly Father has made it possible for our families to be together forever. As we faithfully keep His commandments, we can be sealed in the temple to our families eternally. This makes it possible for us to live in Heavenly Father’s presence again.
POSTER ACTIVITY – Families Together Forever Poster
1. Print or copy the activity poster to color.
2. Talk about the poster, saying, “Families can be together forever. The temple is a sacred place where we are sealed together.”
THOUGHT TREAT: Happy-heart Goodie. Add a smile on a heart-shaped cookie or cracker for each child (using frosting or squeeze cheese). Say that because they love their present or future family so much, they will want to be sealed in the temple to be with them forever.
• Talk about forever families as follows:
—Show a copy of the handout cut into puzzle pieces (cutting out family members separately).
—Say, “When parents are married in the temple, they are sealed to each other and their children” (put the puzzle together).
—Take away one family member and place in an envelope as you say, “When we die, we are separated for a while, but we can have joy knowing we are sealed in the temple.” (Seal envelope by taping it shut.)
—“After we are resurrected, we can be with our family again.” (Unseal envelope and have children put the puzzle together again.)
• Talk about ways children can prepare for the temple: keep Word of Wisdom (eat good foods), pay tithing (to help build temples), pray (stay close to Heavenly Father), go to church (learn how to live the gospel), love others (live the teachings of Jesus), obey parents (love our family).
• Show pictures of temples and talk about them. Tell how a temple is Heavenly Father’s house, where He visits.
3. Talk about the Home Activity: “Let’s look at a book about temples and talk about how wonderful it is to be together forever. If a temple is close, let’s go see the temple!”
