Little LESSON LIFESAVERS Activity
I’m so thankful for my home!

OBJECTIVE: Encourage children to feel gratitude for their home and to help take care of it.
POSTER ACTIVITY – I’m so thankful for my home!
1. Print or copy the activity poster to color.
2. Talk about poster, saying, “I’m so thankful for my home! I can pick up my own toys. I can wipe up my own spills. I can help set the table for dinner. I can be cheerful and happy.”
• Play follow the leader by demonstrating the above actions and asking children to copy you. Children can take turns being the leader. More Ideas: spray and wipe a window or wall, pick up trash, turn out lights, tend brother or sister, help Grandma and Grandpa, straighten the rug, feed pet, sweep, dust.
3. Talk about the Home Activity: “Teach me what I can do to help at home and love my family. Then I can feel peaceful and happy as I fill my home with love.”
THOUGHT TREAT: Home-sweet-home graham cracker. Create a house by connecting graham-cracker pieces, using frosting from a tube. Say, “Home can be sweet when we help and show love.”
SING “A Happy Family,” “When We’re Helping,” and “Quickly I’ll Obey” (Children’s Songbook, 198, 197).
