POSTER ACTIVITY – I can be kind to animals.
1. Print or copy the activity poster to color.
2. Talk about poster, saying, “I can be kind to animals.” Enjoy paw-print activities:
• Have children count the paw prints on the handout with you.

• Have children make paw prints like those on the handout, using their hands (placing thumb for a large part of paw and fingertips for the rest). This can be done with pudding on waxed paper (they can eat the prints), or on paper using poster paint (washing hands after).
• Have them tell you why they like their pets and love to see their paw prints.
3. Talk about the Home Activity: “Teach me how to take care of my pets and to not forget that they need food, water, exercise, play, and lots of love.”

THOUGHT TREAT: Paw Cookies. Make a round sugar cookie and press a bottle lid in the center to form the center and small fingers on one side of the cookie to make four paw prints (as shown on the visual). As children eat, tell them to take a “paws” for a moment to think what their pets can eat. Most pets are allergic to milk. They also don’t do well with people treats, only dog and cat treats they find at the store.
