LESSON LIFESAVER Activity
You’re Such a Buzzzzy Bee. Here’s a THANKS from me! thank you card
OBJECTIVE: To encourage youth to give thanks to those who have worked and sacrificed for them, e.g., parents, grandparents, relatives, teachers, and friends. They can also learn to be hard workers like the Saints who settled in Nauvoo.
ACTIVITY: Pioneer Spirit Thank-you Card
Help youth create a thank-you card they can give to a loved one to let them know that their hard work is appreciated.
Encourage youth to develop the pioneer spirit like the hard-working Saints who settled in Nauvoo. Have them think of their parents and grandparents who have left their legacy of love, and the pioneers who unselfishly took on heavy burdens to bring us what we have today.
Encourage youth to work hard at righteous goals so they will prosper and leave a LEGACY OF LOVE for their children and loved ones.
TO MAKE: Print or copy the card for each youth.
THOUGHT TREAT Pioneer Peanut-Butter Sandwich. Tell the youth, “The pioneers stuck to their beliefs just like this peanut butter sticks to this sandwich or the roof of your mouth. We too can stick to our beliefs and work hard to leave a legacy for our posterity.”
Review enrichment activity 5, for which the above activity illustrates.
SCRIPTURE CHALLENGE CARD: Help youth Search and Ponder this scripture card by filling in the blanks. PRINT this 5 x 7 scripture card from the pdf included with the above activity. You can punch the two holes on the left and tie a ribbon to attach cards or use two metal rings to connect cards.
D&C 58:27-28
“Verily I say, men should be anxiously engaged in a good cause, and do many things of their own free will, and bring to pass much righteousness;
For the power is in them, wherein they are agents unto themselves. And inasmuch as men do good they shall in nowise lose their reward.”
