LESSON LIFESAVER Activity
True to the Teachings of Jesus
Book of Mormon HEROES Honor Roll Merit Match

ACTIVITY:
Let’s honor heroes of the Book of Mormon with this Honor Roll Merit Match.
Remind youth to be true to the teachings of Jesus as they create an Honor Roll to spotlight Book of Mormon heroes. In spite of the evils that were around them, these men were true to the teachings of Jesus. Mormon kept the records, thus bringing these Honor Roll examples to us (Mormon 1:4-5) – see lesson below.
Follow the instructions on the Honor Roll. To find the heroes, read their description in the Book of Mormon Index. Place pictures as shown.

HOVER OVER or ZOOM IN (to view)

To Make a Match: As youth look up the scriptures, they can glue the top of the hero images over HERO (“glue picture top here” position on the poster). Fold the top of the picture so it can become a flap to open and close to view hero descriptions.

TO MAKE Print, color the Honor Roll poster on cardstock paper, and the hero images on lightweight paper. Cut out the images.

THOUGHT TREAT: Fruit Roll-up Honor Roll. As you talk about each Book of Mormon hero, roll out the fruit leather than roll it back down like a scroll (used in the olden days to write upon). Tell how each hero was true to the teachings of Jesus.

TESTIMONY: Bear testimony of the Book of Mormon and how it can help us remain true to Jesus Christ in spite of the evil influences around us.

Mormon 3:2-3 “The Lord did say unto me:

Cry unto this people—Repent ye, and come unto me, and be ye baptized, and build up again my church, and ye shall be spared.
And I did cry unto this people, but it was in vain; and they did not realize that it was the Lord that had spared them, and granted unto them a chance for repentance. And behold they did harden their hearts against the Lord their God.”
