Sunday Is a Special Day fun box game
OBJECTIVE: Tell children that the Sabbath day is a day of rest where we remember Heavenly Father and Jesus. It is a commandment from Heavenly Father to keep Sunday—the Sabbath day—holy to do activities on Sunday that are special things found on the Sunday Fun Box: Draw a picture, Pray, Listen to scriptures, Visit the lonely, and Sing Primary songs.
2. ROLL THE BLOCK GAMES
GAME #1 Do As I’m Doing Game. Children take turns rolling and showing the activity that faces up on the block (e.g., the child shows “pray” by folding arms, bowing the head, and closing eyes). Other children can follow the leader to copy the Sabbath-day action. When rolling the Sunday Fun Box block, children can smile a sunny smile and say, “I keep the Sabbath day holy.”
GAME #2 First to Roll. Children can compete by seeing who is first to roll a certain action to earn a special treat or sticker. Older children can do this at the same time they are playing Game #1.
THOUGHT TREAT: Sunny Sunday cookies. Top round sugar cookies with yellow frosting and a smiley face. Tell children that on Sun-day they can always smile as they remember Heavenly Father and Jesus.
