Little LESSON LIFESAVER Activity
I Am a Child of God
poster or coloring page
OBJECTIVE: Children can learn that they have a heavenly Father who knows them personally; that they lived with Him before coming to earth. The Home Activity prompts parents to ask them “how it feels to have a body of flesh and bones,” and how to keep their body and spirit happy.
LESSON. Use NURSERY Lesson 1 “I Am a Child of God” (found HERE).
LESSON. Use SUNBEAM Lesson 1 “I Am a Child of God” (found HERE).
TO MAKE. Print a poster in black and white (to color), or print in color.
ACTIVITY. Talk about the poster, saying, “I am a spirit child of Heavenly Father. He knows me and He loves me. He sent me to earth to gain a body.”
Talk about the Home Activity:
• (Part 1) “Ask me how it feels to have a body of flesh and bones.” Examples: I’m happy I can walk, talk, breathe, see, hear, taste, use my body to help.
• (Part 2) “Let’s talk about what I can do to keep my body and spirit happy.” Examples:
(1) BODY. Go to bed and get some sleep. Get up and run and play. Take a bath when it is time. Brush my teeth. Comb my hair. Eat my fruits and vegetables.
(2) SPIRIT. Say my prayers each day. Go to Primary and sacrament meeting each week. Have a family home evening. Learn stories in the scriptures. Be kind to others. Help someone. Obey Mother and Father. Help sister and brother.
THOUGHT TREAT: Earth-shaped Candy Malt Balls. Show children earth soil. Explain that we chose to come here to earth. We left our heavenly home, but we can return when it is time.
