OBJECTIVE: Tell children that loving others is a way of loving Jesus. We show our love by listening to them, by being kind, and by helping them.
THOUGHT TREAT: All-Kinds-of-Kindness necklace. String cereal on a ribbon for a necklace, talking about ways to be kind and show others love as children eat each piece from their necklace.
SINGING for I Will Love Others (Nursery Lesson 18) and I Can Love Others (Sunbeam Lesson 34) Sing: “Jesus Said Love Everyone” (Children’s Songbook, 61).
POSTER ACTIVITY – Love Others Poster
1. Print or copy the activity poster to color.
2. Talk about the poster, saying, “I can love others!”
• “Can you find someone praying for others?” Have children name someone they pray about and how they ask Heavenly Father to help that person.
• “Can you find anyone helping do work around the yard?” Have children tell you how they help in the yard (e.g., pulling weeds, picking flowers or vegetables, finding and caring for ladybugs and potato bugs).
• “Can you find someone sharing a loving hug?” Have children tell you why they like hugs and whom they give hugs to.
• “Can you find a boy giving some flowers to a lonely neighbor?” Ask children to tell you about someone they visit who is lonely and needs a friend.
3. Talk about the Home Activity: “Help me look for ways to be kind like Jesus. Show me how to speak kindly to everyone. Help me so I can also say please, thank you, I’m sorry, and excuse me.”
