USE FOR Church, Home, and School (children Ages 1-5)
Little LESSON LIFESAVER Activity
I am thankful I can hear!
(Listen Carefully Rattle)
OBJECTIVE: Help children appreciate their ears and what they can do.
CRAFT ACTIVITY – I Am Thankful I Can Hear! – Listen Carefully Rattle
TO MAKE Print or copy the activity. Fold in half, folding over the side and bottom tabs, then glue or tape.

Fill 1/3 full with rice, sand, macaroni, popcorn, or beans. Fold top tab and glue. Glue and/or tape a wooden craft stick in the bottom center on back.
ACTIVITY: Children can shake the rattle to listen carefully to hear what’s inside. This can remind them to thank Heavenly Father for ears that hear.
THOUGHT TREAT: Marshmallow ears. Give each child two marshmallows and a round sugar cookie. Cut marshmallow in half and stick to cookie to look like ears (using frosting as glue). Decorate the eyes, nose, and mouth with frosting in a tube. A child can eat the other marshmallow as they create the face cookie. Talk about the things you can hear with your ears and then eat the cookie. Things you might hear: Mother’s voice, Father telling you to say your prayers, your teacher saying, “Be reverent,” your dog barking because he needs some food, and the birds chirping.
