Ladybug Fire Safety (teach how to escape a fire)
1. Print and read the Ladybug Fire Escape rules with your family or neighbors, and have a fire drill (rules on instruction pages).
2. Make a fire escape plan of your home with your family, and have a fire drill. Obtain the Ladybug Fire Escape Route graph paper and map out your home windows and door exits (plan on instruction pages).
3. Obtain the supplies to make the firetrap markers and set up and play the Ladybug Fire Safety Drill Game (rules on instruction pages).
THOUGHT TREAT (Ladybug Cool-off Lemonade). Make the ladybug straw decoration and serve lemonade with decoration attached to a straw (punching holes first). Talk about ways you can stay cool in a fire. Remember that a fire can spread through your house in minutes and become hotter than 1000 F. Cool Ways: (1) crawl; (2) STOP, DROP, and ROLL if on fire; and (3) follow Ladybug Fire Escape Rules (shown above).
