OBJECTIVE: The lesson helps children learn that they lived with Heavenly Father as spirits before we were born. Heavenly Father prepared a plan that allows us to come to earth and receive physical bodies in order to become like Him and return to His presence. This is possible through the Atonement of Jesus Christ and our obedience. Jesus was chosen to be our Savior.

Use this activity for NURSERY and SUNBEAMS (Ages 1-5)

TO MAKE. 

POSTER ACTIVITY – Happiness Plan Poster
1. Print or copy the activity.
2. Talk about the poster, saying, “Heavenly Father has a plan of happiness for me! When we were living in heaven as spirits, Heavenly Father presented His plan for us. Part of the plan was to come to earth and receive physical bodies to be like Him and to be able to return to His presence. 

Through Jesus’s Atonement and our obedience, we can return. In heaven, we were with Heavenly Father and Jesus. We chose to follow Jesus. With this body, we can learn to make the right choices so we can return to live with Heavenly Father and Jesus someday.”
3. Talk about the Home Activity: “Show me a glove to illustrate the body (lifeless without the spirit). When I came to earth, my spirit was placed in my body to bring it to life (put a hand in glove). When I die, my spirit will leave my body (remove the hand from the glove). When I am resurrected, my spirit will return to my body (put the glove back on).”

THOUGHT TREAT:  Heavenly-smile bread. Squirt a processed cheese smile on a slice of bread for each child. Remind children that heaven is a happy place because Heavenly Father and Jesus are there. They want us to be happy while we live on earth too.
