OBJECTIVE: Tell children that each of us is a child of God with a body similar to His. We were created in His image.
LESSON. Use NURSERY Lesson 2 “Heavenly Father Has a Plan For Me” (found HERE).
LESSON. Use SUNBEAM Lesson 2 “I Heavenly Father Has a Body” (found HERE).
TO MAKE. Print a set of paper dolls for each boy or girl.
POSTER ACTIVITY – Created in God’s Image
1. Print or copy the activity poster.
• Cheer (with optional pom-poms from a dollar store). “Two, four, six, eight. Who do I appreciate? Me, me! Heavenly Father created me, terrific me!” Mention at least one thing that is terrific about each child.
2. Talk about the poster, saying, “Heavenly Father is a real person. I am made in His image. He has a perfect body of flesh and bones. I can become like Him.”
• Image Spotlight. Ahead of time learn good things about children to tell the class about them, building up their image.
3. Talk about the Home Activity: “Look into the mirror with me and tell me the color of my eyes. Tell me about my face, ears, hair, hands, and feet. Tell me how wonderful I am.”
THOUGHT TREAT: Straight-and-Strong pretzels. Give children straight pretzels and tell them that their body is straight and strong. Talk about things that will help them keep their body straight and strong.
