FOUR WAYS TO GRAB SONG VISUALS AND SINGING
SINGING ACTIVITIES to Motivate Singing
ONLY VERSES 1 AND 3: When we originally produced this song for our Singing Fun series, the Primary program stipulated that the children sing verses 1 and 3. There is wisdom in this as verses 2 and 4 are difficult for children to grasp as well as tough to illustrate without being graphic. So at this time we will not be including verses 2 and 4 with this collection.
IDEAS TO PRESENT THIS SONG:
Each time you sing this song you could talk about one of the following verses, talking about one cue-card/verse or part each week (examples):
• Testimony Time: Ask children to come up and bear their testimony of the Prophet Joseph Smith and tell why they know he is a Prophet of God, called in these latter-days to restore the true gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth known as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
• King Roleplay: Crown a child to represent a king (see cuecard H 27-1-4) praising Joseph Smith.
• Endless Priesthood: Have a child tell how the priesthood of God was restored and will never be taken from the earth again.
Praise to the man who communed with Jehovah!
Jesus anointed that Prophet and Seer.
Blessed to open the last dispensation,
Kings shall extol him, and nations revere.
Hail to the Prophet, ascended to heaven!
Traitors and tyrants now fight him in vain.
Mingling with Gods, he can plan for his brethren;
Death cannot conquer the hero again.
Praise to his mem’ry, he died as a martyr;
Honored and blest be his ever great name!
Long shall his blood, which was shed by assassins,
Plead unto heav’n while the earth lauds his fame.
Hail to the Prophet, ascended to heaven!
Traitors and tyrants now fight him in vain.
Mingling with Gods, he can plan for his brethren;
Death cannot conquer the hero again.
Great is his glory and endless his priesthood.
Ever and ever the keys he will hold.
Faithful and true, he will enter his kingdom,
Crowned in the midst of the prophets of old.
Hail to the Prophet, ascended to heaven!
Traitors and tyrants now fight him in vain.
Mingling with Gods, he can plan for his brethren;
Death cannot conquer the hero again.
Sacrifice brings forth the blessings of heaven;
Earth must atone for the blood of that man.
Wake up the world for the conflict of justice.
Millions shall know “Brother Joseph” again.
Hail to the Prophet, ascended to heaven!
Traitors and tyrants now fight him in vain.
Mingling with Gods, he can plan for his brethren;
Death cannot conquer the hero again.
