Goal Ideas
Help youth prepare for the Second Coming of Jesus with this Second Coming preparation list tent-card activity. The quote on the card tells them, “There are things for each of you to do that no one else can do as well as you.” Do this and stand firm until He comes again (D&C 87:8).

President Monson also said, “We must be vigilant in a world which has moved so far from that which is spiritual. The storms will still beat at our doors from time to time, for they are an inescapable part of our existence in mortality. We, however, will be far better equipped to deal with them, to learn from them, and to overcome them if we have the gospel at our core and the love of the Savior in our hearts.”

ACTIVITY: Youth can realize from reading the quote (on the activity card) that they each have a unique and divine purpose for being here, a special work to do.

Have youth write on the card what they can do to prepare for the Second Coming after reading D&C 87:8 “Wherefore, stand ye in holy places, and be not moved, until the day of the Lord come; for behold, it cometh quickly, saith the Lord. Amen.”
Tell them that if they go the extra mile by showing service, they are serving the Savior as well, walking in His steps.
TO MAKE Print/color card on cardstock paper, cut-out, and fold.
THOUGHT TREAT: Lost-and-Found – Second Coming Treats. Have the youth bring one of their favorite food items or treat to share. Have someone hide them in a room before youth enter. Go to the room and have them find the lost food items and place them on a tray to share. Before sharing talk about how important it was for everyone to do prepare and bring that treat to share. Compare that with the Second Coming of Jesus that all must prepare if they are to reap the rewards of being with the Savior and sharing personal conversations with Him. If we are prepared we shall not fear or wish we had prepared.

SECOND COMING BALLOON SEND-OFF!:
1. Have a helium-filled balloon for each youth with a string attached (not a ribbon).
2. Ask youth to notice the string attached to this balloon. Tell them that Jesus Christ gave us two gifts unconditionally with “no strings attached,” (nothing expected in return) hoping that we would give our gifts to Him “with no strings attached.” He suffered for our sins so that we could repent. He was crucified and resurrected so that all might live again. His plan is for us to live with Him again. He did this because He loves us and wants us to have the blessings of eternal life. We can thank Him by living the commandments, repenting, and following in His steps, so we can be ready when He comes again.
3. Have youth write a thank you letter on their balloon, thanking the Savior for His sacrifice and telling how they will prepare for His return.
4. Take turns reading the letters. Ask young women to untie the string and all at the same time let their balloons go!
5. Take photos of this event for youth to remember this moment and to look forward to Christ’s Second Coming. You can mount photos on a card for each girl with the words, “Jesus Loves Me with No Strings Attached.
