My Body is a Temple – Holy Ghost
8 pages (color/black-and-white visuals: 3 sizes for poster)
Objective: Help children/youth memorize 1 Corinthians 3:16-17: “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.”
To Make: Print, color, and cut out poster of your choice. If printing the larger size poster, mount the two parts on poster paper. The smaller cards are for children to take home.
Ways to Motivate Children/Youth to Memorize Scripture:
• Give out small black and white scripture cards to memorize.
• Once they are passed off give out the colored version of scripture cards.
TALK TO CHILDREN: Remind children that temples are places where Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father can come. Our body is like a temple, and God’s Holy Spirit can come and dwell in us. To make this possible, we must not let any unclean thing enter our body or defile it (show scripture poster above). There are many blessings that can come from this (See D&C 89:18-21). Doctrine and Covenants 89:18-20: “And all saints who remember to keep and do these sayings, walking in obedience to the commandments, shall receive health in their navel and marrow to their bones; And shall find wisdom and great treasures of knowledge, even hidden treasures; And shall run and not be weary, and shall walk and not faint. And I, the Lord, give unto them a promise, that the destroying angel shall pass by them, as the children of Israel, and not slay them. Amen.”
