POST-AND-PRESENT ACTIVITY. INVITE THE HOLY GHOST Invitation Brainstorm. Youth choose an invitation, e.g, “You’re Invited! because I read the scriptures.” Then tell why this ACTION (obeying that commandment) would invite the Spirit. Invitations are posted, then placed in an envelope. This commitment-filled envelope can actually serve as a time capsule to review again at a later date.

Post-and-Present Activity
Invite the Holy Ghost INVITATIONS
OBJECTIVE: Help children/youth learn what they can do to invite the Holy Ghost into their lives so they can receive help in making important decisions. If we live worthily, the Holy Ghost will help us choose the right.
ACTIVITY:
Tell children/youth that they are going to learn ways to invite the Holy Ghost into their lives. They can pretend to mail an invitation to Him. Have a manila envelope ready to insert invitations, and show this to the children.
- Have children/youth take turns coming up and choosing an invitation, reading it aloud, and posting it on the board, e.g., “You’re Invited! because I read the scriptures.” Have them tell why this action would invite the Spirit.
- After all of the invitations are posted, have children/youth come up and read the invitations again, then place them in individual envelopes and drop them into the large manila envelope. If you have a mailbox, you can use it instead of the manila envelope.
- Tell children/youth that we don’t send the envelope like we do regular mail; instead, we send messages to the Holy Ghost by our actions. He can see what we do by our actions, and He knows our thoughts. He then, in turn, can send messages to us through our mind and our heart.
TO MAKE: Print, color, and cut out the invitations that follow. Laminate and cut out. Use letter-size envelopes for each invitation and then place in a larger manila envelope (as shown) addressed to the Holy Ghost.
THOUGHT TREAT: Sweet Invitation – Envelope Treats. Purchase treats that can easily slide into an envelope. On top center of envelope write: “SWEET INVITATION TO: ______________” On blank write their name. Below write: “You Are Invited to Express Your Sweet Memories of the Holy Ghost.” Have them open their envelope and enjoy the treats as you have each share sweet messages the Holy Ghost has given you.
