Commandment Opposites Match Game
OBJECTIVE/ACTIVITY: By playing this match game youth can gain a better understanding of how commandments are broken and kept and learn how this could prevent or help them fulfill their divine roles.
TO MAKE Cut out commandments.
TO PLAY:
1. Lay them facedown on a flat surface.
2. Take turns turning cards over to make an opposites match (e.g., “Jealousy, envy, greed” matches with “Do not covet”). When a match is made, have the youth tell specific things they can do to obey this commandment.
Examples: “Let virtue garnish thy thoughts unceasingly” could be “watch only G and PG movies, play worthy music, hum a hymn when I think a bad thought”).
3. Talk about how each action might affect their abilities to fulfill their divine roles.
4. Play until all matches are made. The person or team with the most matched cards wins!
Answers (matching cards are in the same position on the second page), e.g., the “Choosing not to marry, choosing not to have children, homosexuality” card matches with the opposite “Multiply and replenish the earth” card.
THOUGHT TREAT: CBU (Cinch-By-Inch) Wafer Cookies. Provide three wafer cookies for each youth and have them write a letter “C” “B” and “I” on each of the crackers with a tube of frosting. Mark the wafers along the sides like a ruler, showing the inch, quarter-inch, half-inch, and three-fourth-inch marks (using short lines like a ruler).
Tell youth that keeping the commandments is “a cinch by the inch.” when we resist temptation each day, we can fulfill our divine roles and return to our heavenly home. This way we stay on the path and we are always ready to return to our Heavenly Father.
Review the 12 ideas found on the game as you eat the wafers.

Share the following statements by President Spencer W. Kimball and by Elder M. Russell Ballard of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles:
“To be a righteous woman is a glorious thing in any age. To be a righteous woman during the winding up scenes on this earth, before the second coming of our Savior, is an especially noble calling. The righteous woman’s strength and influence today can be tenfold what it might be in more tranquil times” (Teachings: Spencer W. Kimball, 217).
“Sisters, your sphere of influence is a unique sphere—one that cannot be duplicated by men. No one can defend our Savior with any more persuasion or power than can you—the daughters of God who have such inner strength and conviction. The power of the voice of a converted woman is immeasurable, and the Church needs your voices now more than ever” (M. Russell Ballard, “Men and Women and Priesthood Power,” Ensign, Sept. 2014, 33).
