ACTIVITY: I Believe in Obeying the LAW badge

 

OBJECTIVE: The lesson helps children understand the importance of respecting and obeying the laws of the land.

Talk about obeying family rules in the home and how they help their family to be happy.

Talk about the rules of our country that help everyone to be safe and happy.

With this activity, having the I Believe In Obey the Law badge we can be reminded of the rules of the land and at home. 

ACTIVITY: Law Obedience Badge

Have children wear this badge to remind them to respect and obey the laws of the land. Talk about raising their right hand to make a promise. Have children do this as they say, “I promise to obey the laws.”

Help children memorize the following to know the importance of obeying the laws of the land.

DOWNLOAD Articles of Faith 1:12 (HERE or below) to help children memorize.

TO MAKE:
1. Print or copy the activity onto cardstock, color, and cut out.
2. Place a safety pin on the badge to pin to the child’s clothing.

“We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.”

 

STORY. Tell the about obeying one important law of the land to keep you safe. The boy in the story follows the Holy Ghost telling him to wear his helmet and what happened because he obeyed. See “Safety and the Spirit” Friend magazine July 2014 (HERE).

LESSON ACTIVITY. To help children learn spiritual laws that help keep them safe with the following Post-and-Present Quiz.

THOUGHT TREAT Five Olives on Five Fingers. Ask children to name five rules in their family to keep them safe and happy, such as picking up toys so others don’t fall on them, putting away their clothes so they will know where they are, or waiting for their turn at doing something so everyone will have a turn and no one will feel left out.
