Prayer Rock and Reminder Note
OBJECTIVE: The lesson helps children/youth understand that they can grow closer to Heavenly Father by praying reverently.
ACTIVITY: Prayer Rock
Place a rock in a sack with the prayer reminder note. Review the note with children/youth and ask them to place the rock under their pillow at night. When it hits their head they will be reminded to say their prayers. Once their prayer is said they can move the rock to the side of their pillow.
Remind them to pray morning and night and role-play how to pray.
Prayer rock reads “To help you remember to say your prayers, place this rock under your pillow. If you get quickly in your bed and feel this rock hit your head, kneel . . ..” (more in the pdf download)
TO MAKE:
1. Print in color or black-and-white and have children color and cut out the prayer rock reminder label.
2. Place label in a zip-close plastic bag with a good-size rock.
THOUGHT TREAT (when appropriate): Warm-Heart Sugar Cookies. Frost heart-shaped sugar cookies to share, to remind children that Heavenly Father will give them warm, peaceful feelings in their heart when they pray.
