NURSERY OR SUNBEAM LESSONS

OBJECTIVE: Tell children that when Jesus came to the earth He established His church. After Christ’s Crucifixion and His Apostles died, His true gospel was lost. The Prophet Joseph Smith was able to restore the true Church to the earth for us today.
NOTE: If you purchase this activity and it does not have the living prophet on the poster, request this and we will send you the current living prophet poster.
POSTER ACTIVITY – I Belong to the Church Poster
1. Print or copy the activity poster to color.
2. Talk about the poster, saying, “I belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.”
• “Priesthood”: Worthy men in the Church hold a special power from God to heal and bless the sick, baptize, and give us the gift of the Holy Ghost.
• “Living Prophets”: Ask children, ‟Who is the living prophet leading Jesus Christ’s church today?” Talk about him and share something he has said (see Friend magazine).
• “Scriptures”: Tell children that the scriptures teach us where we came from, why we are here on earth, and how to choose the right so we can live in heaven again someday.
3. Talk about the Home Activity: “Let’s talk about what it means to be a member of the Church. Help me understand that we have the priesthood, a living prophet, and the scriptures that teach us truth.”
THOUGHT TREAT: Me-a-Member cookie. Give children a gingerbread man (cookie). Talk about how they can stand up tall as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Have children stand tall and hold up their cookie before eating it. Sing, “The Church of Jesus Christ.”
