LESSON LIFESAVER Activity
Gifts of Resurrection & Eternal Life gift package
OBJECTIVE: Create a gift package to enclose a Rice Krispies Treat to describe two gifts from Jesus’ gift of the Atonement: Gift of Resurrection and Gift of Eternal Life. Alma 11:42–43 (the gift of resurrection) and Alma 11:40 (the gift of eternal life).
Tell the youth that they can earn these gifts given to them by Jesus by earning the gifts through obeying all of God’s commandments.

Lesson-Treat. Enclose the following Rice Krispies Treat and shape into an hourglass shape by tying two different strings tightly in a bow in the center of the treat.
Recipe: Melt 3 tablespoons margarine and a 10-ounce package of marshmallows (40 regular or four cups miniature) in a microwave, cooking two minutes, and stir. Repeat until melted smooth. Stir mixture into six cups of Kellogg’s Rice Krispies cereal. Butter a 12x9x2-inch pan and place treat in the pan. Cut warm treats into 6×2-inch bars and wrap them in clear plastic wrap.
TO MAKE Print activity in color or black and white to color. Cut out, on the outside edge leaving the center part or bottom of the card. Fold the bottom. Pull together top pieces of the card back to back and punch two holes at the top where indicated. Thread a ribbon through holes and tie a bow.
MUTUAL NIGHT OR FAMILY NIGHT ACTIVITIES
TURN OUR FACES TOWARD THE SON: To encourage youth to feel the warmth that can come from having Jesus Christ in their lives and to see things clearly with His light, begin by setting up a room with a sun lamp. Talk about repentance and the Atonement. Turn out the lights and talk about Satan’s plan. Tell how some people see physically (the light) but do not see spiritually (the light of Christ). Blindfold the youth, and talk about how some don’t see physically, but they can see spiritually (with their hearts through the Spirit).

- Isaiah 26:19: Refers to those who “live again” or are raised from the dead.
- Psalm 16:10: Declares, “For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell [Sheol]; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption”. This is interpreted as a direct prophecy that the Messiah’s body would not corrupt in the grave but would be raised.

- Animal sacrifice: From Adam and Eve onward, sacrificing animals without blemish was a “similitude of the sacrifice of the Only Begotten of the Father”.
- The Passover Lamb: The lamb sacrificed during the Passover in Egypt, whose blood on the doorposts saved the people from death, prefigured Christ as “the Lamb sacrificed for the sins of the world”.
- The Day of Atonement: The rituals of the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) in Leviticus 16, where priests made atonement for the people’s sins, all looked forward to Jesus Christ’s ultimate Atonement.
- The brass serpent: As Moses lifted up the brass serpent in the wilderness so that those who looked upon it might live, so would the Son of Man be lifted up (crucified) that those who believe in Him might have eternal life (Numbers 21:9; John 3:14–15).
