SCRIPTURE SEEK AND RUN:

Have youth compete to find scriptures and clues taped to the walls before time is up.

To Make the Game: Before, have youth class presidents and leaders, search the scriptures together and write questions on slips of paper. On a separate paper, write clues that provide the answers (to be taped to walls around the activity room.) A sample question might be “From the scripture 1 Nephi 13:9, what destroys the saints of God and brings them down into captivity?” Clue card: “the __ __ __ __ __ __ of the world.” The answer and missing word is praise.

To Play: You’ll need a watch with a second hand. Divide youth into teams. Teams take turns where they draw a question, read it and from that moment have one minute to find the scripture and the clue taped to the wall. If they can’t do this, the other team has one minute to find the answer. If the second team can’t find it, the first team tries again. The team with the most clue cards completed wins.
Rules: The team that is not participating does not open their scriptures until it is their turn. Scriptures must be closed at the beginning of each question.

SURPRISE SCRIPTURE CUPCAKES: Wrap a Book of Mormon scripture question with the reference in foil, and insert it into a cupcake (with a knife after baking or drop into the batter before baking). Frost cupcakes and as youth eat them, they will find a surprise question inside. (Supply wet wipes.) After they eat the cupcakes, have young women find the answers to their cupcake question in the scriptures. Choose pertinent scriptures about heroes (e.g., Abinidi, Alma the younger’s conversion, Nephi’s obedience, etc.). Have youth read and discuss their questions.
Option: Youth can team up and discuss questions first and liken their experiences to our day. Tell them that they can find answers to their questions daily if they search the scriptures and pray with an honest heart.
