LESSON LIFESAVER ACTIVITY
Gospel Standards word find
THIS ACTIVITY IS FOR YOUTH: For children see My Gospel Standards below.
OBJECTIVE: Help youth review their gospel standards—how they are different from worldly philosophies, and how they (gospel standards) will bring them peace, as the Savior promised in this scripture.
Read John 14:27 “My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth.” Explain that Jesus sent us the Holy Ghost, the Comforter, to speak to our hearts and minds as we live the gospel standards. This is a peace that we need in this troubled world.
To Do Wordfind:
1. Find and circle the gospel standards in the word-find and highlight any that are of a special challenge to you.
2. Find the Worldly Philosophies word(s) found on the right; opposite the Gospel Standard column on the left. Example: “Astrology” (using the stars to pretend to tell fortunes) is opposite of our gospel standards of a “patriarchal blessing,” where we receive direct revelation from our Heavenly Father as to our purpose and direction in this life. We also receive this direct revelation in our personal prayers, through the prophet, Church leaders, and parents who are inspired to lead and guide us.
3. Unscramble the world philosophies (words) and write them in the blank column on the right.
Answers: (astrology, pornography, immorality, harmful substances, civil marriage, divorce, and abortion).
4. From the highlighted gospel standards (see #1 above), challenge yourself to study these gospel standards in the scriptures, Era and Ensign Church magazines, and Church books, learning the word of the Lord and his prophets until you feel secure and at peace with these standards.
TO MAKE print activity in color or black and white.
THOUGHT TREAT: Gospel Goodie Sack. Place notes inside small bags of candies. Examples: Smarties candies: “Be a smarty and repent! (resist temptation, be kind, honor your covenants, keep the Word of Wisdom, forgive others, be chaste, honor your virtue, be modest) Gummy worms: “Don’t be a worm, serve others.” Nerd candies: “Don’t be a nerd, say a kind word.” Snickers: “Don’t snicker at the truth.”
MUTUAL NIGHT, SUNDAY SCHOOL, SEMINARY, FAMILY HOME EVENING ACTIVITIES
FOR THE STRENGTH OF YOUTH REVIEW: Review this pamphlet published by the Church. Ask the youth to write their personal questions and put them in a box. Have the bishop or youth leader answer the questions during the next meeting.

FOR CHILDREN – Study MY GOSPEL STANDARDS
Helps Children Put on the Whole Armor of God*: “My Gospel Standards” – From the Primary General Presidency – “The Lord commands His followers to “take upon you my whole armor, that ye may be able to withstand the evil day, … having on the breastplate of righteousness” (D&C 27:15–16).
It is vital that children be taught at home and in Primary how to take upon themselves the whole armor of God* (see activity below) and withstand the evil in the world. To help in this process, Primary children have been given 11 gospel standards to help them live the gospel of Jesus Christ.
‘My Gospel Standards’ can be found on the back page of Faith in God booklet (visit www.LDS.org).
Find opportunities to teach these standards in family home evening, in the classroom, and in sharing time.” Read more . . .
