Miss Honest? or Miss Dishonest? consequences journal
YOUNG MEN version of this activity. Upon request, we can create Mr. Honest or Dishonest? with (male faces). Contact us.
ACTIVITY/OBJECTIVE: Help youth to decide if they are Miss Honest or Dishonest with this consequences journal. With this journal, they can think about the consequences of honest and dishonest choices. Honestly consider how these actions will affect your life by writing in detail the consequences of each decision. Example: The consequence of stealing is that people won’t trust you.
TO MAKE print activity in color or black and white.
THOUGHT TREAT: Consequence Cookies.
1. Frost two cookies for each youth, one with a smile and the other with a frown.
2. As you eat, talk about actions that might bring happiness to you or our Heavenly Father.
3. Talk about actions that would bring a frown or unhappiness.
4. You could make two different batches of cookies, adding salt instead of sugar to the frown cookies, and the right ingredients to the smile cookies.
5. When youth eat the frown cookie, remind them of the bitter taste of dishonesty and the sweet taste of honesty.
6. When they eat the smile cookie, talk about the peaceful feelings and blessings that come from making honest choices.
MUTUAL NIGHT, SUNDAY SCHOOL, SEMINARY, FAMILY HOME EVENING ACTIVITIES
COVENANTS AND PROMISES:
1. Read Joshua 24:15 “Choose you this day whom ye will serve, but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
2. Talk about the Young Women motto: “Stand for Truth and Righteousness.”
3. Talk about the “Times,” “Things,” and “Places” that involve covenants and promises. Examples: “Times” of Our Lives—youth, missions, college, dating, marriage, motherhood; “Things” in Our Lives— callings, jobs, careers, responsibilities; “Places” in Our Lives—movie theater, school, mall, on vacations, store, library, and recreational sites.
SITUATION PREVIEW: Look ahead at situations that may happen in our lives and what we will do to make honest decisions. Project what the consequences might be with both an honest and dishonest decision. Make decisions now to say no to bad choices, keeping in mind the straight and narrow path that leads back to our Heavenly Father.
QUOTES ON HONESTY: Read the story of Unwavering Honesty – Jordan P. Where a young man’s test of honesty was confirmed with a phone call to his Mom stating that he had never stolen anything. New Era 2011
