ACTIVITY DAYS PLANNER

Three Cheers for Good Sports (learn to play sports cheerfully)
1. Print a sportsmanship medal.
2. Cut a slit at the top, and insert a ribbon.
3. Play sports and award this medal to someone who was a very good sport.

Talk About Being a Good Sport: The rules of sportsmanship are as easy as 1, 2, 3. Rules: (1) learn how to play, (2) give it a try, and (3) be courteous—be a good sport.

Three CHEERS for Good Sports:
1. Good Sport Cheer #1—Follow the Golden Rule (do unto others as you would have them do unto you). If you like to hear them say, “Good play,” say “Good play.”
2. Good Sport Cheer #2—Smile. A cheerful face is a fun way to make friends. Smile, especially when you mess up at sports, or when someone is not being a good sport.
3. Good Sport Cheer #3—Be Courteous. When it’s another person’s turn to play, give them a chance to show what they can do, even if you are competing.

Play Three Sports to Cheer About:
1. Laundry Basketball: Shoot balls or balloons into a laundry basket. Divide into teams and take turns shooting for points. If shooting baskets from the stairs, give more points for baskets made from higher stairs. Or play catch using laundry baskets for mitts.
2. Frisbee Baseball: Play Frisbee on a baseball diamond with two teams. The person up throws the Frisbee into the outfield. If outfielders catch it, the team that is up receives a strike. Three outs and you’re in the outfield. Run the bases, giving a point for each player who makes it in safe. Home runs count double. If touched with Frisbee while running bases, you’re out.
3. Water Balloon Volleyball: It’s a blast! Players fill balloons with water using a hose, then tie balloons. Play volleyball with 5 to 10 balloons at a time, tossing them over the net. Play volleyball rules, rotating positions and serving, but throw the water balloon instead of hitting it. Players on the other side must catch the balloon without bursting it. When it bursts, they lose a point to the other team, no matter who serves. Play until a team loses 5 to 10 points.

THOUGHT TREAT (Triple-Header Strawberry Cones). Top a cone with 3 scoops of berry ice cream after playing the 3 games above, then add a berry to match the award, “You’re a berry good sport.”
