HAPPY BIRTHDAY – Light the Cake with candles and badges

Birthday Cake
DIRECTION: LIGHT UP EACH CHILD’S BIRTHDAY week by having them find their personalized name on the candle on the cake. Then award the birthday child (you are spotlighting) with a Happy Birthday badge to wear. Load cake with candles for the birthday month.
To Make: Print, color, and cut out birthday cake pieces and candles. You’ll need a candle for each child in the Primary or family. Mount birthday cake on a poster and laminate the entire poster. Write each child’s name, month, and day on each candle.
To Use: At the first of each month, place on the cake all the candles of children who have birthdays that month. On the child’s birthday week, sing the happy birthday song of your choice, and let the child find his candle (with the name on it) to take home. What a fun way to spot“light” a child’s birthday.
Birthday Badges
Objective: Help children know they are not forgotten on their special day.
To Use: On the child’s birthday, you can pin on their shirt or dress a Happy Birthday to You! badge.
To Make: Print, color, and cut out the “Happy Birthday to You!” badges.
