Objective: Help children/youth memorize 2 Peter 3:2: “Be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets.”
To Make: Print, color, and cut out poster of your choice. If printing the larger size poster, mount the two parts on poster paper. The smaller cards are for children to take home.
Ways to Motivate Children/Youth to Memorize Scripture:
• Give out small black and white scripture cards to memorize.
• Once they are passed off give out the colored version of scripture cards.
Mini-lesson Ideas for 2 Peter 3:2
1. Discuss and Sing the Song “Follow the Prophet” about the following prophets: • Adam • Enoc • Noah • Abraham • Moses • Samuel • Jonah • Daniel • Today’s Prophet
2. Play this fun game in the Friend magazine : “Follow the Prophet” to help you teach the words of the song, “Follow the Prophet.”
3. Study Scriptures About Following the Prophet. Moses 5:4-12, Moses 5:58-59, Moses 6:26-28, Moses 7:13-21, Genesis 6-8, Genesis 12-50, Exodus 3, Numbers 14, 1 Samuel 1, Samuel 3:1-10, Jonah 1-3, Daniel 6, Doctrine and Covenants 21:4-7
4. Read article “Follow the Prophet” that tells how we can follow the example of Joseph Smith who read James 1:5 telling him to “ask of God.” We can follow his example and ask God our questions.
5. Show the video “The Restoration” (shown below): Joseph Smith’s search for truth led to the First Vision and the Restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ. (19:12)

6. Show talk/video on why we should follow the prophet: “Blessings of Following Prophets” (shown below) where Elder L. Tom Perry, Quorum of the Twelve Apostles teaches that obedience to the prophet yields blessings.
