Little LESSON LIFESAVER Activity
“The Holy Ghost Will Guide”
DON’T “WAVE”R MAZE
OBJECTIVE: This lesson helps youth want to be worthy of the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost. Like the Liahona that guided Lehi and his family as they sailed to the Promised Land of America, we too can keep the commandments and receive inspiration to guide us.
ACTIVITY: Use this maze to help youth sail ahead to the Promised Land. Watch for clues to sail in the right direction. Tell youth that we too can use the help of the Holy Ghost to guide us if we keep the commandments and not “wave”r (or leave the path).
TO MAKE Print or copy, color, and cut out The Holy Ghost Will Guide – Don’t “Wave”r Maze for each youth.
THOUGHT TREAT: Ahoy! Apple Sail Boat. Core half an apple and fill with peanut butter. For the sail, place a cheese slice on a toothpick.
SCRIPTURE CHALLENGE CARD: Help children Search and Ponder this scripture card by filling in the blanks. PRINT this 5 x 7 scripture card from the pdf included with the above activity. You can punch the two holes on the left and tie a ribbon to attach cards or use two metal rings to connect cards.
1 Nephi 18:12, 21 “And it came to pass that after they had bound me insomuch that I could not move, the compass [Liahona], which had been prepared of the Lord, did cease to work. . . .
After they had loosed me, behold, I took the compass, and it did work whither I desired it. And it came to pass that I prayed unto the Lord; and after I had prayed the winds did cease, and the storm did cease, and there was a great calm.”

Purpose
To help the children want to be worthy of the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost.

Prayerfully study 1 Nephi 18. Then study the lesson and decide how you want to teach the children the scripture account. (See “Preparing Your Lessons,”> p. vi, and “Teaching from the Scriptures,” p. vii.)
-
Additional reading: Gospel Principles, chapter 7.
Enrichment Activities
You may use one or more of the following activities any time during the lesson or as a review, summary, or challenge.
-
Write words or phrases such as prayer, choice of friends, words we use, television shows, video programs, music, movies, obedience to parents, keeping the commandments, kindness to brothers and sisters, respect for other people, service, or other appropriate activities on separate slips of paper. Put the papers in a small container. As each child draws out a piece of paper, have him or her read it to the class and tell how what is written can affect our ability to have the Holy Ghost in our lives.
