MUTUAL NIGHT, SEMINARY, FAMILY NIGHT ACTIVITIES
SERVE WITH STYLE FASHIONABLE MATCH GAME:
TO PLAY: Divide into teams and lay cards face down on the table. Have players/teams take turns drawing a card to make a match. Award winner/team with extra treats as follows.
TO MAKE Print activity in color or black and white on card stock (making two sets); color. Cut out cards.
THOUGHT TREAT: Bit-O-Honey Candy. Give each youth this treat or another honey treat . . . with a note that reads: “Service is sweet, so buzz on over to serve someone this week.”
HAVE A CRAZY MIXED-UP FASHION SHOW: Youth and leaders can come dressed in their favorite—fun or unusual outfit. The fashion show could have a theme. This is fun to do around Halloween (costume), Christmas (ugly sweaters), Valentines (hearts and cupids), or Outdoor (cowgirl, cowboy). They could hand the narrator a one-paragraph script to match their outfit. For example, (their name) is modeling ________. The clothing needs to be modest. Then have a photoshoot or do group selfies to share.
SERVICE BRAINSTORM: Youth and leaders can divide into two teams. Have each invent ten fun ways to be of service. Have a panel of three judges score each idea.
SERVICE SING-ALONG: Look for songs in the Hymns book on “Service”, example, “Because I Have Been Given Much,” p. 219 or “Scatter Sunshine,” p. 230.
SERVICE INVENTIONS: Drive young women around the neighborhood and assign someone to take notes. List all they see that could be a service project. It’s important that the girls do the noticing and noting. Go back to church or home, and decide which is most needful. Make assignments and plan the projects (e.g., time and equipment needed and permission [if needed]). Let the bishop know of the plan, and decide if the young women should keep it anonymous or not and who should do what.
