POST-AND-PRESENT ACTIVITY. LETTERS TO HEAVEN prayer mail. This PRAYER MAIL box can be placed in the youth’s room or in a classroom to send out prayer mail (on postcards with a LOVE stamp). They don’t need to sign their name as Heavenly Father knows what is in our hearts. Start by reviewing the four parts of prayer (open thank, ask, close). “Prayers are letters to heaven” written on the mailbox, they reach heaven every hour.  READ MORE

Youth can start by reading James 1:5 which motivated Joseph Smith to pray in the Sacred Grove to ask God which church was true. The Father and the Son appeared to him to restore the gospel of Jesus Christ again upon the earth. READ MORE

Youth can know that our Father in heaven loves us so much that He allowed Jesus Christ who created us and our world to also sacrifice His life for us. SINGING TIME. “I FEEL MY SAVIOR’S LOVE” song visuals. Youth can feel the love of Jesus Christ “in all the world around” them. “His Spirit warms” their soul “through ev’rything” they see. They know they “will follow him, give all” their “life to him” because of their love. Youth can post these visuals to teach this song to children as the circle telling of His love surrounds the image of The Father holding our world showing that everything in the world was created for us. For example, “Whenever I hear the song of a bird Or look at the blue, blue sky” …“I’m glad that I live in this beautiful world Heav’nly Father created for me.”  READ MORE

POST-AND-PRESENT ACTIVITY. WHICH STANDARD WORK? match game. Youth will learn that the scriptures are the word of God taught in these four works. It’s fun to brainstorm, to guess which set of topics or stories or people are found in which books known as our Standard Works: The HOLY BIBLE, The BOOK OF MORMON, The DOCTRINE & COVENANTS, or The PEARL OF GREAT PRICE. YOUTH LESSON ACTIVITY. MY FAMILY WILL RISE UP flex scripture muscles – balloon puzzle. Youth can learn how their testimony grows strong by reading the scriptures; they also help them resist temptation as Jesus did. They draw a numbered word strip from a balloon or a container and match it with the number on the back of a puzzle piece. Then, read the scripture to learn how to GET STRONG. Like the Prophet Nephi who wrote (2 Nephi 4:15) “my soul delighteth in the scriptures and my heart pondereth them.”   READ MORE

AGES 1-5 I LOVE THE SCRIPTURES! poster or coloring page. Children can get extra help from parents and teachers as they read the scriptures and stories together. Talk to them about two sets of scriptures they can learn about Jesus, the Bible, and The Book of Mormon. Hold the books close to your heart and say, “I love these books!” Or, say, before you start to read, “Let’s say a prayer to Heavenly Father to help us learn from the scriptures.” Ask them to tell the stories back to you.  READ MORE

AGES 4-7 THE TEACHINGS OF JESUS ARE A GREAT TREASURE! bookmark. Children can go on a treasure hunt to find this bookmark that includes some yarn to weave through the punched holes. Bookmarks can be placed in their scriptures to remind them that every time they read the scriptures they are on a treasure hunt to find words of wisdom from Jesus or the prophets.  READ MORE 

AGES 8-11 B.E.A.R.S. Be Enthusiastic about Reading Scriptures chase game. Youth can with this BEAR spinner board get excited about reading as they move the arrow from each of the STANDARD WORKS: OLD & NEW TESTAMENT, BOOK OF MORMON, and DOCTRINE & COVENANTS. When the spinner points to the book, the leader names a subject, e.g., faith, or charity; then players rush to find a scripture for that book on that subject. First to start reading earns a point for their team.  READ MORE

YOUTH GOAL ACTIVITY. TEACH LIKE JESUS Teaching Talents and Tools planner/journal. Youth can use this tool to plan what they will teach and to know the ways the Savior taught. Jesus Taught Through: Love, scriptures, stories, and examples. Jesus knew through prayer who needed to be taught and what to teach them. If we are nurtured by the Spirit we can teach by the Spirit.  READ MORE

SCRIPTURE MEMORIZATION. Moroni 10:4-5  scripture poster. Moroni engraved this PROMISE on gold plates that he gave to Joseph Smith hundreds of years later, called The Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ. Christ visited Moroni’s people the Nephites. We are to “ask God” and “he will manifest the truth of it” “by the power of the Holy Ghost.”   READ MORE

Youth can prepare to think the right thoughts during the sacrament by drawing and placing circles: #1 SMILE CIRCLE tells right action during sacrament; place it by the Always Remember Him sign. #2 FROWN CIRCLE tells the wrong action; place it below the sign. #3 SINGING CIRCLE tells a song to sing (the first verse); place by the sign. AGES 1-5. I Will Think about Jesus – poster or coloring page. Children are instructed to do the following DURING THE SACRAMENT: Sing or listen to the sacrament song, listen to sacrament prayers, think about stories of Jesus, and try to always remember Him. The Home Activity has parents reminding them to be reverent during the sacrament and to think about Jesus as they partake of the bread and water.   READ MORE

AGES 4-7. I PROMISE … HEAVENLY FATHER PROMISES … two-sided puzzle. This puzzle can be folded and glued back to back or left to display open to mix up and match wordstrips as you teach, putting them in place. AGES 8-11. RETURN TO HEAVEN Ordinance Opportunity Game. Study D&C 20:37 with youth to see if they are ready for baptism. Then, play this Game to help them know that is an honor to be baptized and confirmed and to partake of the sacrament as they are to become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This Game helps them learn about the Ordinances of Baptism, Confirmation, Sacrament, and Temple that will help them return to live with God again.  READ MORE

The strait and narrow path that leads them back to God. Youth can increase their desire to keep the commandments, follow the plan of the Savior, and do what He wants them to do as they sing this song. POST-AND-PRESENT ACTIVITY. BUTTERFLIES ARE FREE Repentance Garden. Youth can play in teams or two players to climb to the top. They can choose from a deep container a flower (right choice) or a rock (wrong choice). Read the situation. If a rock, they place their butterfly under the rock (to show the heavy weight of sin), until they say how they can right the wrong. Then, place their butterfly onto a flower, climbing each time until the first to make it to the top wins.  READ MORE

POST-AND-PRESENT ACTIVITY. REPENTANCE CAN MAKE US HAPPY Happy Henry or Miserable Mac body-building puzzles. Children can think about choices that make them happy or sad. They can un-mix puzzle pieces depending on the situation/choice they can show happy choices to build Happy Henry and sad choices to build Miserable Mac. Henry is happy as he has the Holy Ghost to guide him, but Mac can repent and feel happy again. Choices help. READ MORE

AGES 1-5. I CAN SAY HIPPOPOTAMUS. I CAN SAY I’M SORRY puppet. Children who can say this big word HIPPOPOTAMUS can say they are sorry for something they did wrong. Children will love to say it, even more, when they use this hand puppet to open their mouths wide as they say, “I’m Sorry!” READ MORE

AGES 4-7 “WHEELY REPENT!” Turn the Wheel to see if you can … Because of Jesus, we can repent. As you turn the wheel the windows show the before and after actions, how one action called for repentance and how they repented. For example: “I gave my friend a shove.” (side 1) “But quickly picked her up and gave her a love.” (side 2). Opposite windows show repentance. These can start brainstorming. AGES 8-11. REPENTANCE: Jesus made it possible for me to repent! crossword puzzle This puzzle helps children learn the message “Because Jesus suffered for my sins in the Garden of Gethsemane, I will repent and live the gospel of Jesus Christ.” Words are to be placed in the puzzle.  READ MORE

TEENS SUNSHINE REPENTANCE doorknob reminder (Mosiah 27:29).  Youth can learn from Alma the Younger’s experience that they can move from darkness into light and feel the warmth and peace that true repentance brings. Then write the eight steps to repentance on the back: recognize, promise, recommit, restitution, feel repentance, prove, forgive, and commit.   READ MORE

Youth can share some of our beliefs by reciting: “We believe in the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.”   READ MORE

YOUTH ACTIVITY. JESUS IS THE LAMB OF GOD little lamb block. Youth can read John 1:29 to learn that Jesus Christ is the lamb to take away “the sins of the world.” Several blocks can be made to push around pretending to herd sheep (and more).  READ MORE

Youth learn from this song that “‘I’m sorry’ is not always easy to say.” When they “know” they have “been thoughtless and done something wrong” they can “try to repent, to do better, to pray that Heavenly Father will help” them “be strong.” The song words can be written on the cue cards and mounted on the back of visuals.  READ MORE
