Our Primary Colors

35395, Children’s Songbook, Our Primary Colors, 258

Our Primary colors are one, two, three—
Red, yellow, and blue.
Each one has a message for you and me.
Each is a symbol true!
Red is for courage to do what is right,
Yellow for service from morning till night.
Blue is for truth in our thought and our deed.
We will be happy when this is our creed.

Scriptures suggested in this song (above) are detailed below.

MORE IDEAS on these three colors:

Red for COURAGE to do what is right.

In Deuteronomy 31:6, we read, “Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.” How does God go with us (to give us courage)?

After we are baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we receive a special gift of the Holy Ghost, to be our constant companion (as long as we are keeping God’s commandments). GOING WITH US.

This Spirit is a member of the Godhead and does not have a body like Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ (the other two personages in the Godhead who have a body of flesh and bones). He is a Spirit without a body. This way, He can dwell or speak to our heart and mind what God the Father and the Son want us to know.

Yellow for SERVICE from morning till night.

We read the words of King Benjamin in the Book of Mormon. He was a righteous king who counseled his people to serve their Heavenly King by serving others. He took care of his own needs so his servants could serve others. In Mosiah 2:17, he said, “And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.”

Blue for TRUTH in our thought and deed.

If you are honest in your thoughts, you will be honest and true in your deeds. Ephesians 4:25 says, “Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.” Mark Twain said, “If you tell the truth, you don’t have to remember anything.”
