Learn & Living the Gospel Goal 6 (Part 1 of 2):
Tell a story from the Book of Mormon that teaches about faith in Jesus Christ.
Book of Mormon Story—Abinadi Warns the Wicked King Noah puppet show
1. Print, color, and cut out the Abinadi Warns the Wicked King Noah Puppet Show.
2. Mount wooden craft sticks or tongue depressors on the bottom half (back) of each visual.
3. Put on the puppet show by having individuals hold the visuals while a narrator reads the script #1-14.
THOUGHT TREAT Commandment Cookies. Serve two wafer snack cookies side by side and write in frosting CTR to represent the commandments Abinadi spoke of to King Noah and his priests.
Thought: We cannot taste the sweetness of the gospel until we dive in (take a bite of a cookie) and taste what it is like to keep the commandments. Our testimonies can be formed as we live each commandment or gospel principle, such as keeping the Word of Wisdom, obeying the law of tithing, and keeping the Sabbath day holy.
Learn & Living the Gospel Goal 6 (Part 2 of 2):
Share your testimony of the Savior.
My Testimony of Jesus Christ journal page
1. Print, color, and cut out the My Testimony of Jesus Christ Journal Page.
2. Write your testimony of the Savior on the journal page. You might also want to express how 1) the gospel has blessed your life and 2) your belief that the Book of Mormon is true.
3. Place this in your Book of Mormon. Also, you can place this same testimony in a Book of Mormon you can give away.
THOUGHT TREAT: (Testimony Hourglass cereal bars). Make an hourglass-shaped marshmallow-and-cereal treat (below) and use it as follows.
To Make Treat: Melt 3 tablespoons of margarine and marshmallows in a large bowl.
1. Add one of the following marshmallow choices: (1) a 10-ounce package of marshmallows, (2) 40 regular-sized marshmallows, or (3) 4 cups of miniature marshmallows.
2. Add 6 cups of rice puff cereal and stir. Lightly butter a 12x9x2-inch pan and press marshmallow treat in a pan.
3. Cut treats into 6″ x 2″ bars and wrap them in clear plastic wrap. Tie two different strings tightly in a bow in the middle of the treat to create an hourglass shape.
Thought: Tell the youth that the hourglass represents our time here on earth, and this hourglass-shaped treat reminds us of the sweet blessings Heavenly Father has given us. He has given us a special gift with no strings attached (cut off one string). This gift is the gift of resurrection. Everyone will live again with a resurrected body. The second gift of eternal life has a string attached (leave the second string on). We must earn this special gift if we want to spend all of eternity with our families and with our Heavenly Father and Jesus who love us. Remember our potential is great and we can receive this gift if we use our time wisely.
