AGES 1-5. I CAN BE BAPTIZED IN WATER LIKE JESUS water wheel. Children need not be afraid of the water when they are baptized. This is how Jesus was baptized going under the water, by immersion. Jesus showed us the right way to be baptized. Here they can move the child’s image and then Jesus being baptized turning them in and out of the water.

Nursery Lesson 26 (see below*):
I Will Be Baptized and Confirmed
OBJECTIVE: Use baptism water wheel to illustrate children can be baptized in the water like Jesus by immersion.
Tell children that Jesus was baptized to show obedience to Heavenly Father. He set an example for us. When we are baptized, we show we want to follow Jesus and keep God’s commandments. After we are baptized, we can receive the gift of the Holy Ghost to guide us if we continue to choose the right.
CRAFT ACTIVITY – I Can Be Baptized in Water like Jesus – Baptism Water Wheel
1. Print or copy the activity scene. The scene shows how a child can be baptized in the water (by immersion) like Jesus. Attach the wheel to the sun frame with a paper fastener. Glue the water to the sun-frame where indicated.
2. Turn the wheel to show how figures go under the water to be baptized. Tell children that at age eight they can be baptized in the water like Jesus.
THOUGHT TREAT: Water cookie. Frost a sugar cookie with blue frosting to look like water. Be sure to give them water to drink and talk about how water is used for many things.
