YOUTH LESSON ACTIVITY. KINDLY FORGIVE Ephesians 4:32 rebus poster & peace rose card. Youth can learn this scripture to remind them that their presence personally and on social media is trusted by all and especially the Lord, to be kind and forgiving. It is easier than trying to take back unkind words/actions. Also, God forgives; why can’t we?

Kindly Forgive: Ephesians 4:32 rebus poster & peace rose card
POSTER: Help youth learn the importance of forgiving others as they memorize Ephesians 4:32 with this rebus message:
“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”
PEACE ROSE CARD: Youth can send this card to a friend/family to invite peace and say “sorry.” Note Reads:
This rose represents my friendship and love. I’m sorry if I have ever offended you or mistreated you. I love you. Love, (where they can sign it)
Follow up with a peace rose card to attach to a rose when asking for forgiveness from a loved one.
~ Divide youth into two groups to role-play situations where forgiveness is needed and how the other person forgives.
~ Talk about how a situation might turn out if someone did not forgive. How would they feel in days, weeks, months, and years to come?

FORGIVE AND FORGET–ME–“KNOT”:
1. Give each youth an eight–inch piece of string and ask someone to tie it on their finger with a knot. Say, “When we don’t forgive others, our spirit gets tied up in ‘knots’ and our spirit isn’t free to love others.”
2. Ask youth to untie the knot on their neighbor’s finger. Say, “When we forgive, we need to forget and let go. When we can forgive and forget, we find inner peace, and the person we forgive will also.”
3. Tie the knot again on their fingers and have them wear the string home as a reminder “knot” to forget to forgive others.
FORGIVING HEARTS, LETTING GO!:
Have youth write on a heart–shaped note something they are truly willing to let go of (a hurt, bad feelings about someone, etc.). Discuss how when we don’t forgive, our heart and mind cannot move on to more important things. Forgiveness frees our spirit, leaving room for love and friendship. Have each
one tie their note to a helium balloon and let it go, letting go of the hurt and bad feeling. Serve heart–shaped cookies with “forgiving heart” written on each.
YELLOW ROSE PEACE OFFERING:
Give youth a rose card (to download with this activity shown above) that they can give someone they wish to obtain forgiveness from (along with a peace rose). To explain rose, visit the website HERE to find information on the tea rose. History of the Peace Rose: “The yellow hybrid tea rose is known as a symbol of peace. It was smuggled in from France in 1942 and given out at the United Nations meeting in 1945 that marked the end of the war.”
