ACTIVITY: Do I Groan or Glow? (Pin the Choices on Groany Joni or Glowy Cloe) Game
NOTE IF YOU WANT THIS FOR BOYS (request illustrations for boys)
1. Print, color, and cut out the Glowy Cloe and Groany Joni Posters and cards.
2. Talk about Groany Joni who groans and moans because she doesn’t feel good physically or with how she is taking care of herself. She feels this way because she doesn’t practice good nutrition, good health, good grooming, or modesty. What could she do to change?
3. Talk about Glowy Cloe who glows with good health has energy and is happy because she takes good care of herself and practices good nutrition, good health, good grooming, and modesty.
To Play:
1. Divide girls into two teams. Tape the Glowy Cloe and Groany Joni Posters on the wall next to each other.
2. Line up, having team members take turns drawing a card from the container and placing tape on the back of the card. Decide which action on the card matches which girl, naming either Glowy Cloe or Groany Joni.
3. Blindfold the player, turn them around twice (to make them dizzy), then point them in the direction of the posters. The player tries to pin or tape the card on the chosen poster to win a point. If they hit the spot, they earn a point for their team. Place the card on the right side before the next player takes their turn. The team with the most pin-up points wins!
Choosing the Best Me – Goal Chart
1. Print, color, and cut out the Make Good Choices for My Body chart.
2. Talk and learn about the nutrition and health, grooming and modesty goals. Write your goals (things you want to improve) on the chart to remind you to make good choices.
THOUGHT TREAT: (Silhouette Sandwich). Out of two pieces of bread, carve a girl’s silhouette. Mix half butter and half honey together and spread mixture inside to make a sandwich.
Thought: Tell girls that making good choices for their bodies—taking care of their health and appearance—is “sweet.”
