PRIMARY MUSIC SINGING TIME ACTIVITIES to Motivate Children to Sing
SINGING MOTIVATOR
FROG FRIENDS HOP TO IT! Lily-pads pick-a-song & singing meter
11 pages (color/black-and-white visuals and instructions)
DIRECTIONS: With songs on frogs, help children not to “Croak” the songs, but to “Jump Higher!” and higher as they finally sing “Grrreat!” They can hop with their song-frog friends from lily pad to lily pad.
The songs featured on frogs encourage children to follow Jesus; however you can add your own song titles.
To Make: Print, color, and cut out the lily pads, frogs with practice songs, and frogs without songs. Add desired songs to the blank frogs. Laminate images. Laminate a blue poster to mount images using double-stick tape.
To Use:
1. Mount lily pads on the board/blue poster as shown.
2. Explain objective above.
3. Have children take turns drawing a frog and, as a group, sing the song on the frog.
4. Judge songs, and move the leap frogs to the pad that most describes the quality of the children’s singing. Have all children say “ribbit” each time they jump ahead. You may want to sing practice songs three times so they can jump ahead if they don’t do well the first time.
Group Competition: Children can compete in groups by making two sets of pads and frogs to see which group leaps the highest. Take turns singing songs (only once), with leaders judging how far the singers/frogs can leap.
