Word of Wisdom  Pie – Sweet Ideas for Staying Healthy

There are many pieces of pie that we can consider when talking about the Word of Wisdom, which is Heavenly Father’s sweet law of health (found in Doctrine and Covenants 89). The Word of Wisdom was revealed through the Prophet Joseph Smith in 1833 (summary of D&C 89 below*).

With this activity, youth can focus on the Dos rather than the Don’ts (things we should avoid in order to keep the Word of Wisdom). As they put together this pie they will discover the sweet pieces that make up the more positive side.

“Sweet” Word of Wisdom Pie – Scripture Scramble:
1. Divide youth into two groups.
2. Place the Word of Wisdom pie pieces faceup around randomly on the board or wall or table.
3. Give every other player a Doctrine and Covenants to look up D&C 89.
4. At “Go” have groups find scriptures and puzzle pieces to match their scripture verses. The team who finds the most wins.
5. Then have each person mount their pie piece on a poster or board or wall. Then take turns having that person go up and read the back of a pie to read and discuss with the group. Examples:
