POST-AND-PRESENT Activity
We Can Build a Happy Home – Tools to Build Quiz
YOUTH can teach this lesson to children.
Objective: Help children/youth learn how they can build a happy home with three important tools: family prayer, family scripture study, and family home evening.
TO MAKE Print, color (or print in color), and cut out the images that follow. Use tape or magnets to mount visuals. Mount pictures on the board as shown with hearts under children’s chairs or around the room.
ACTIVITY:
1. Place the tools under the home and talk about each tool that helps us build a happy home. When we face trials or problems come up, we can choose one or more of these tools to help us.
2. Ask children/youth to take turns finding a heart and reading the situation. Then tell what tool they would use to help. Point to the tool and say it: Family Prayer, Family Scripture Study, or Family Home Evening. Some situations may require more than one tool.
THOUGHT TREAT: Three Happy-heart Cookies. Give each child/youth three heart-shaped cookies. To make, cut out and frost heart-shaped cookies and frost a smile on each. Talk about each tool (pointing to visuals above) as you eat each cookie: (1) Family Prayer, (2) Family Scripture Study, and (3) Family Home Evening. Talk about WHO, WHEN, WHERE, HOW will you make these possible in your home and how they will make you happy.
