POST-AND-PRESENT ACTIVITY. IF I WERE JESUS, WHAT WOULD I DO? show-and-tell. Youth can find a footstep and read the situation, then tell what Jesus would do in this situation. This helps them follow Jesus, our perfect example. As they follow Him they become more like Him making it easier the next time to make the right choice.
Great for COME FOLLOW ME, Primary and Family Home Evening, Bible Study, and Activity Days
POST-AND-PRESENT Activity
If I Were Jesus, What Would I Do? show-and-tell
OBJECTIVE: Help children make better choices as they learn what Jesus would do in certain situations.
Ask WHAT WOULD JESUS DO? By living as Jesus would have us live we are showing respect for His teachings. By living God’s commandments we are worshipping Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
ACTIVITY: Tell youth that Jesus is the perfect example for us, one that we can easily follow as we learn about His teachings and His example from the scriptures. Jesus blesses us when we follow His example. By being kind and loving to others and serving them, we can find happiness. Each time we follow Him, we become more like Him, and it becomes easier to follow Him the next time we have to make a choice. One day, after living Heavenly Father’s commandments, we can live again with Jesus and our Father in heaven.
1. Post the sign “If I were Jesus, what would I do?” Say, “What must we do to follow Jesus?”
2. Choose youth to find a footstep and read the situation, tell what they think Jesus would do, then tape the footprints under the sign.
TO MAKE VISUALS: Print/copy, color, and cut out the sign and footprint situations that follow. Ahead of time, tape the situation footprints on the walls and post the sign on the board.
THOUGHT TREAT: Footstep Fudge. Melt two bags milk chocolate chips with 1 can of sweetened and condensed milk and 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1-2 minutes. Stir and form into footprints. Place miniature M&M candies on toes. Tell the youth that as they walk in the footsteps of Jesus it will be a “SWEET” experience.
