Priesthood Power blessing guessing game and journal
OBJECTIVE: Activity helps youth guess which need will lead them to which priesthood ordinance or blessing. Example: I want to follow Jesus and take the first step to become part of God’s kingdom when I am eight . . . WHAT I NEED IS . . . ANSWER: Baptism
TO MAKE Print in color or black and white and color images*. Cut out images and word-strips. Laminate. Tape word-strips on the back of the Priesthood Power Blessing Guessing Game circles (*make seven copies of this PPB page).
ACTIVITY:
Heavenly Father desires to bless His children upon the earth. He has given His special priesthood power to worthy men to act in His name. Through these priesthood holders, we can receive special blessings and ordinances. PRIESTHOOD BLESSINGS help provide guidance, healing, peace, and comfort. PRIESTHOOD ORDINANCES are necessary for us to return to Heavenly Father’s kingdom.

TO PLAY:
1. To set up the game, arrange the ordinance and blessing images on the board as shown. Then place the Priesthood Power card (with word-strips on the back) around the images or randomly around the room.
2. Have youth take turns selecting a Priesthood Power card and hand to the leader to read the statement on the back.
3. To state the need, e.g., “WHAT I NEED IS,” youth finds the image that matches and places the LIGHTENING BOLT on the picture stating their choice/answer. Instruct them to move it each time an answer is given.
4. Give youth one chance to find the match, if not it goes to the next person/team member to find.
5. If playing in teams to add-up points, place Priesthood Power cards on the left or right.
REVIEW: Identify the ordinances and the blessings. Say, “Choose an ordinance,” or “Choose a blessing.”
NOTE: Regarding a Father’s Blessing. One of the Priesthood Power cards (word-strips) reads, “Sometimes I am troubled and need a special blessing from heaven . . . WHAT I NEED IS A . . . Father’s Blessing.” Explain that this blessing can also be given by a home teacher or other priesthood holder (if a father who holds the priesthood is not available).
INCLUDED is a matching handout for this activity. Make one set (two pages) of the Priesthood Power Blessings Journal (shown below). As each youth receives these ordinances and blessings they can record their experiences and feelings about each. This activity can also be downloaded separately and used for a handout.
