Part 1
“Get on the covenant path and stay there.”
President Nelson said, “We enter the covenant path by BEING BAPTIZED and making our first covenant with God.”
#1
I CAN BE BAPTIZED IN WATER LIKE JESUS: water wheel (Ages 1-5)

WHAT IS THE FIRST COVENANT I TAKE?
YOUTH CAN TEACH with this water wheel how we can get baptized in the water like Jesus (baptism by immersion). Tell children that Jesus was baptized to show obedience to Heavenly Father. He set an example for us. Our baptismal promise shows we want to follow Jesus and keep God’s commandments.
ACTIVITY:

After we are baptized, we can receive a special priesthood blessing to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost to guide us to make righteous choices (like Jesus).
BAPTISM puts us on the covenant path that leads us back to heaven. We can stay on this covenant path as we obey God’s commandments.
#2
HEAVEN’S GATE: BAPTISM The gate to the strait and narrow path covenants reminder (ages 8-11)

HOW CAN STAYING ON THE PATH GET ME BACK TO HEAVEN?
YOUTH CAN TEACH that baptism is the gate that opens onto the straight and narrow PATH that leads back to heaven. This activity will show us that when we join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we can do three things to keep us on the path back to heaven to live with God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, forever.
ACTIVITY:
• Read the sign above the path, “I’m heaven sent and heaven bound.” Then, below the path read, “I want to stay on the strait and narrow path. As a Member, I Will:
– Help and love others.
– Stand as a witness of Heavenly Father and Jesus at all times wherever I go!
– Keep Heavenly Father’s commandments.
• Read and talk 2 Nephi 31:17-19. Talk about REPENTANCE, BAPTISM gets us on the path that leads to eternal life (with Heavenly Father and Jesus). Open the gate as you say that the HOLY GHOST is then given to us through a priesthood blessing to guide us on the strait and narrow path. WARNING: In Matthew 7:14 we learn, “Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
HOW DO WE STAY ON THE PATH? Read 2 Nephi 31:20. “Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life.”

“Charity”
President Nelson said, “Let us plead with our Heavenly Father to fill our hearts with greater CHARITY — especially for those who are difficult to love,” he said. “For charity is a gift from our Heavenly Father for true followers of Jesus Christ. The Savior is the Prince of Peace. We are to be His instruments for peace.”

“Virtue”
D&C 121:45 “Garish our thoughts unceasingly with virtue.”
President Nelson said, “Virtue makes everything better and happier” and “will free you from anxious, troublesome thoughts.
“As the world grows more wicked, we need to grow increasingly pure. Our thoughts, words, and actions need to be unfailingly virtuous, and filled with the pure love of Jesus Christ towards all men.”

Part 4
“Prepare for the Second Coming”
President Nelson said that even though we do not know the day or the hour of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, “I do know that the Lord is prompting me to urge us to get ready for that ‘Great and dreadful day’” (Malachi 4:5; see also Zephaniah 1:14–18).
“He is preparing to come again. May we likewise prepare to receive Him,” he said.
Increased time in the temple will help us prepare for the Second Coming, he taught, and it will increase our capacity for both charity and virtue and our confidence before Him.
He concluded with a promise that “as we go to our Heavenly Father with increasing confidence, we will be filled with more joy and our faith in Jesus Christ will increase. We will begin to experience spiritual power that exceeds our greatest hopes.”

LET THE SPIRIT BE YOUR GUIDE
President Nelson said, “Our Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ, will perform some of His mightiest works between now and when He comes again. We will see miraculous indications that God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, preside over this Church in majesty and glory. But in coming days, it will not be possible to survive spiritually without the guiding, directing, comforting, and constant influence of the Holy Ghost.”
