EASTER: Jesus Is Risen!
(Easter Morning Match Game)
OBJECTIVE: The lesson helps children understand that we celebrate Easter because Jesus Christ was resurrected.
ACTIVITY: Easter Morning Match Game
Play this match game to remind children that we celebrate Easter because Jesus was resurrected. Tell the story using the match cards.
TO PLAY: Turn two sets of cards face down on table or floor. Children take turns turning two cards over to make a match. If a match is not made, turn cards facedown again in the same place. Each child who makes a match collects matched cards to win.
TO MAKE:
Using cardstock, print or copy, color, and cut out two sets of cards, placing each set in a bag to take home. Option (shown right): To make the game go faster and save you on the cost of printing two sets in color, print one set of cards in black and white and mount them on colorful Easter-print paper. Children love selecting the two different backs to make the match.
THOUGHT TREAT: Easter Egg Hunt. Remind children that we like to search for eggs because we are reminded of baby animals born in the spring. It is a new beginning for them. Easter is a new beginning for us. After we die and are resurrected, we receive a new body.
