CHILDREN’S LESSON ACTIVITY. I LOVE MY BODY poster or coloring page. Children love talking about their body and why they love it. As you talk about each part: mouth, hands, eyes, and ears, talk about the Word of Wisdom. Our body is like Heavenly Father’s body which is like a very special temple. We should take care of it. For example, “We can feel good as we eat fruits and vegetables and grains. We can make our hearts strong as we exercise.”

POSTER ACTIVITY – I Love My Body Poster
1. Print or copy the activity poster.
2. Talk about the poster, saying, “I love my body! Heavenly Father gave me this wonderful gift to care for and protect.”
• “We can eat and taste many wonderful foods! What is your favorite thing to eat?” Share something you like to eat.
• “We can do many things with our hands. What do you like to do?” Show children how to cut out a smiley face drawn on paper.
• “Our eyes can see many things. What do you love to see?” Look out the window or at a picture to find things in the picture.
• “Our ears let us enjoy so many beautiful sounds. What do you love to hear?” Tweet like a bird. Blow to make a wind sound. Sniffle with your nose to make the sound of breathing in.
3. Talk about the Home Activity: “Listen as I tell you about what I can do with my eyes, ears, mouth, hands, and feet.”
THOUGHT TREAT: About-face crackers. Have children create a face on a round cracker with cheese from a spray can. Tell what eyes, ears, and mouths can do. Talk about the hands the children used to make the face, the feet they used to walk to the table, and the mouth they used to eat the cracker.
SINGING for I Will Take Care of My Body (Nursery Lesson 10), and I Have a Body (Sunbeam Lesson 16): Sing “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes,” “Hinges,” and “Once There Was a Snowman” (or “Once I was a Baby”) (Children’s Songbook, 275, 277, 249).
