CHILDREN’S ACTIVITY. I HAVE FEELINGS Sunshine Face smile/frown flip-flag. Present both of the I HAVE FEELINGS activities (including the “I Have Many Feelings!” poster or coloring page shown below). With these activities, you can help them understand and identify their feelings and learn ways to be HAPPY.

LESSON LIFESAVER Activity

I HAVE FEELINGS sunshine face/frown flip-flag

See the “I Have Feelings” Lesson 21 in the Primary 1 manual (HERE).  

OBJECTIVE: Help children understand and identify feelings and learn ways to be happy.

CRAFT ACTIVITY – Sunshine Face – Smile/Frown Flip-flag
1. Print or copy the activity. Glue a wooden stick or an unsharpened pencil in the bottom center. Fold the flag and glue back-to-back.
2. With this Smile/Frown flip-flag, children can flip back and forth to learn about their feelings and know that it’s more fun to have a sunshine face. To flip the flag, move it back and forth quickly to try and see both sides at once.

THOUGHT TREAT. Smiley-face cookies.

SINGING FUN. Sing the following song and notice the words HAPPINESS and JOY and actions that make us smile. In the song we learn that families that pray together, serve each other, and read the scriptures find JOY and HAPPINESS.

Home can be a heav’n on earth

When we are filled with love,

Bringing HAPPINESS and JOY

In the 2nd verse find the words:

CHEERFUL hearts

MORE SINGING for I Have Feelings (lesson): Sing “Smiles,” “I Am Like a Star,” and “Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam” (Children’s Songbook, 267, 163, 60).
