1. Print two sets of jelly bean cards and I have bean READING! glue-on stickers.

2. Match cards with books. Join the study scene with jelly beans! Taking cards, call your local library to arrange a half-hour tour. Ask the librarian to point out the difference between fiction and nonfiction books, and where to find them. Check out one of each type of book, and place each card inside the book it matches. Read for 15 minutes from each book (see #5 below).
Fiction Books
: Short stories, novels (e.g., mystery, romance, western, science fiction, historical), and children’s stories.
Nonfiction Books: Nature, history, autobiographies and biographies, humor, cookbooks, music books, reference books (e.g., dictionary, thesaurus, encyclopedia, atlas), art, poetry, how-to books (e.g., repairs and building, science, activity books and parties, home decoration) . . . and more. Make sure you have your own library card.

3. Select books and have a reading session with children.
4. Fiction and Nonfiction Jelly Bean Match Game. Color and cut out two sets of jelly bean match cards to play. Play a match game, guessing if each is fiction or nonfiction. Award winner with jelly beans.
